Hip Hop Fairyland

Promoting Health, Culture, and Community Care in Oakland Through Hip Hop

Hip Hop Scholastics Presents the Third Annual HipHop Fairyland Community Health Fair

Saturday, September 27, 2025 | Children’s Fairyland, Oakland, CA

OAKLAND, CA — In the face of growing federal rollbacks on civil rights, healthcare access, and

basic services, Hip Hop Scholastics (HHS) is amplifying its mission to promote healing, equity,

and wellness through the power of art, culture, and community. The organization proudly

announces the return of its flagship event: the Third Annual HipHop Fairyland Community

Health Fair, a vibrant celebration of care, creativity, and collective resilience rooted in Oakland’s

legacy of cultural innovation and resistance.

Drawing inspiration from Hip Hop’s underground and community-centered traditions, HHS centers

“care, not profit,” creating space where underserved communities—especially youth—are seen,

heard, and empowered. Through a unique blend of health services, therapeutic arts, youth

empowerment, and cultural expression, HipHop Fairyland is more than an event—it’s a

movement for community-driven healing.

Bushwick Book Club

  • Peralta Hacienda Historical Park (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Join us at Peralta Hacienda house porch for an afternoon of original music, storytelling, and art all sparked by Gabby La La's new and wildly delightful book, Not the Path of Totality. In true Bushwick Book Club Oakland fashion, local musicians will share original baby songs written in response to Gabby's memoir - but this show comes with a twist.

Gabby has invited the community to participate! Anyone moved by Not the Path of Totality is warmly encouraged to share art of any kind as part of the event. This could be music, visual art, performance, writing, dance, pottery, puppetry, cuisine...you name it.

This is a unique chance to celebrate the expansive imagination and heart of Gabby La La, and to co-create a performance that spans genres, voices, and even dimensions.

We can’t wait to experience the multiverse with you.
